Rajinder Raj was always interested in the art of music from a very tender age;
it was his older brother who recognized his talent. His older brother used to
play the saragi and taught him how to play the dhad with him.
That was the beginning of Raj’s passion for music.
Later, Raj joined the company of his guru Late.
Sh. Sagar Ji Mastana, who was a great musician and founder of chati (Stick)
Playing Table with chati (Stick) ; he is the father of the world famous
artist Sardool Sakinder, Aman Gamdoor and Bharpoor Ali is best Tabla Player.
Raj spent three years with him and learnt rudiments of classical music. Raj
started his music career when his songs were played for the first time on Radio
Jalandhar.
Then, HMV released their first record
in 1975-76. It not only was best seller record in India, it was well sold
abroad. It was “ Main Panth Khalsa Sajna ” and “Maa Kahe Bhagat Singh nu beta
baat suni tu meri”. Zahir Amhad Recording office at HMV.
Raj is one of
those people who never pause, who never go stale. For the last three decades now
he has been conjuring up the magic with his singing, writing, music directing
and teaching music. It comes so naturally to him that could not be
thought.
